บทที่ 1 พื้นฐาน PLC
1.1 นิยามของโปรแกรมเมเบิ้ลลอจิกคอนโทรล โปรแกรมเมเบิ้ลลอจิกคอนโทรล มีอีกชื่อหนึ่งว่า โปรแกรมเมเบิ้ลคอนโทรเลอร์ หรือ PLC ก็คืออุปกรณ์ประเภทโซลิดสเตท ซึ่งเป็นตระกูลหนึ่งของคอมพิวเตอร์ โดยการนำวงจรรวม ( Integrated Circuit :IC ) มาประยุกต์ใช้เป็นอุปกรณ์ควบคุมแทนที่อุปกรณ์จำพวกรีเลย์ หรือพวกแมกเนติกคอนแทรกเตอร์ PLC มีชุดคำสั่งต่างๆเช่น คำสั่งเกี่ยวกับระบบซีเควนซ์ คำสั่งการหน่วงเวลา คำสั่งการนับ คำสั่งทางคณิตศาสตร์ คำสั่งการจัดการข้อมูล รวมถึงคำสั่งที่ใช้ในระบบสื่อสารต่างๆ เพื่อใช้ในการควบคุมทางอุตสาหกรรมและกระบวนการผลิต ไดอะแกรมแสดงการประยุกต์ใช้งานของระบบ PLC ถึงแม้ว่าในปัจจุบัน PLC นั้นจะมีหลายนิยาม แต่จากคำนิยามของ "โปรแกรมเมเบิลลอจิกคอนโทรลเลอร์" ตามมาตรฐานของ IEC 1131 , PART 1 "ระบบปฏิบัติการทางด้านดิจิตอลออกแบบมาให้ใช้งานในอุตสาหกรรม ซึ่งใช้หน่วยความจำที่สามารถโปรแกรมได้ในการเก็บคำสั่งที่ผู้ใช้กำหนดขึ้น ( User Program) เพื่อเป็นเครื่องมือในการกำหนดฟังก์ชั่นหรือเงื่อนไขในการทำงานเช่น การทำงานแบบ
